Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Recipi is a recipe book that works without an account. This policy explains what the app processes and what it does not, under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the GDPR.
Your recipes stay with you
Your recipes, collections, week plan and shopping list are stored on your device. If you turn on sync, they travel through your own iCloud account, with Apple, to your other devices. We do not have a copy of your recipe book.
No account
Recipi asks for no email address, password or username. No profile is created on our side.
Saving a recipe from a website
When you share a recipe page to Recipi, the app reads the recipe the website publishes (title, photo, ingredients, steps). This happens on your device: Safari hands the page to the app, or the app downloads it directly from the website. Nothing goes through our servers.
Saving a recipe from a photo
The text of a photo (cookbook page, handwritten card, screenshot) is read by Apple’s text recognition, directly on your device. The photo never leaves your iPhone. Recipi only accesses the photos you pick, and the camera only when you open it.
Saving a recipe from Instagram, TikTok or pasted text
To turn a post’s caption or a pasted text into a tidy recipe, Recipi sends that text, and only that text, to our server function hosted by Supabase in the European Union (Ireland). It passes the text to Anthropic’s Claude AI model (United States), which returns the title, ingredients and steps. No identifier travels with the text, and we keep neither the text nor the recipe. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use these texts to train its models. Videos are never sent.
Unlocking
The core of Recipi is free; Recipi Pro unlocks the rest. Payment goes through Apple’s App Store: Recipi sees neither your name nor your card. To check the purchase and restore it after a reinstall, the app relies on RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-specific identifier and Apple’s receipt, never your recipes.
What the app does not do
No ads. No ad tracking. No sale of data. No recipe catalogue and no taste profile built about you.
Transfers abroad
The only transfer outside Switzerland and the EU is the text sent to Anthropic in the United States when you import from a social network or paste a text. It relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Deleting your data
Deleting a recipe in the app erases it from your device and, if sync is on, from your iCloud. Deleting the app erases everything it keeps on the device.
If you contact us
If you email us, we process your address and message only to reply. These exchanges are kept for 12 months at most.
This website
This website sets no cookies and does not measure visits.
Your rights
You may ask for access to, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your country’s authority. Since Recipi does not hold your recipe book, most of these rights are exercised directly in the app.
Controller
Recipi is published by an individual in Switzerland.
